Alan, a Brummie, came to Newcastle in 1965 to study and stayed. After 54 years considers himself a naturalised Geordie. He spent a working life in education and is now retired and pursuing lifelong interests in history and folk music. He is a founding member of Heaton History Group and currently chairperson.
