Wednesday 25 June 2025 7.30pm THERE IS NO NEED TO BOOK
Our June talk on the history of Heaton Stannington will celebrate the club’s 115th anniversary and 80 years at Grounsell Park. It will cover the Stan’s origins, its league and cup history, grounds played at, and players and other characters associated with the club.

Our Speaker
Kevin Mochrie is a long-standing member of Heaton History Group and well known to many members, having treated us to a fascinating talk on Robbie Burns earlier this year as well as delivering many successful talks at High Heaton Library. Kevin is also the Stan’s official historian and for many year’s the club’s programme editor. He is a former lecturer in housing and also worked for Newcastle Libraries’ local studies department.
Our Venue
This event will take place at St George’s United Reformed Church on Newton Road, High Heaton NE7 7HP. It is on the corner with Boundary Gardens, the same block as Heaton Stannington’s football ground, Grounsell Park.
There are excellent public transport links including the numbers 18, 38, 52 and 553, which stop right by the church.
There is car parking on the surrounding streets.
Booking
The event is free to Heaton History Group members and costs £2.50 for non-members. There’s no need to book. Just turn up on the night.
