Our talk on Monday 25 January will be about the long and rich history of our neighbouring district of Byker from the building of Hadrian’s Wall to that of the Byker Wall almost 2000 years later.

Here’s a question: how do we consider the north side of Shields Road? It was officially Heaton; is it still?

Currently South Heaton ward extends right across Shields Road but there are boundary change proposals in the pipeline which might well change that. I think it’s fairly fluid!
